Nancy, Barry & gang must not have seen this coming. Of course they knew there would be opposition -- just none outside of the far-right wackos. Unfortunately for them, the opposition to their proposed health care reform is far-reaching. Are some of the people that attend the town hall meetings part of "organized groups"? Yes, I believe that some are. But I believe that these out-of-touch politicians are naive in their belief that none of these angry people are centrists, who independently formed their own opinion that the proposed reform will be bad for our country.
The reaction to the health care reform anger and protests is baffling. Free speech against government is what makes democracy such a beautiful thing. Since when is speaking out against elected officials considered "Un-American"?
Even more irritating than Steny Hoyer & Pelosi's "Un-American" article in USA Today is the White House's call for turning in any "fishy e-mails" that one receives containing misinformation about Obamacare. Wait, irritating isn't the word I'm looking for...I believe the proper descriptor would be scary. It scares me that the government is collecting information on citizens that disagree. In this age, there will always be misinformation spread at lightening speed about every issue, but combating it should never involve making people fear that with the click of the mouse, their name may be headed to a list in Washington, forever stored at the National Archives.
To close, it amazes me when people think they can get away with lying. A woman posed as a doctor at a town hall in Texas, and got caught by a blogger. Nice try!
